The word Gospel means “good news.” The Gospel of Jesus Christ is the good news that God loves us and sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to save us from our sins. Every person has sinned and fallen short of God’s standard (Romans 3:23), and sin separates us from God (Isaiah 59:2). But God showed His love for us by sending Jesus to die for our sins: “Christ died for our sins” (1 Corinthians 15:3). Jesus lived the perfect life we could not live, willingly gave His life on the cross, and took the punishment that our sins deserved (1 Peter 2:24).

But the story does not end with the cross. Jesus rose from the dead three days later, defeating sin and death (1 Corinthians 15:4). His resurrection proves that Jesus is truly Lord and that His sacrifice was sufficient to bring us back to God. Through Jesus, we can receive forgiveness and be made right with God; not because we have earned it, but because of His grace. As Ephesians 2:8–9 says, “By grace you have been saved through faith... not a result of works.” Salvation is a gift from God, made possible through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

So what does God call us to do? Repent and believe in Jesus Christ. Repentance means turning away from our sin and turning toward God. Jesus said, “Repent and believe in the gospel” (Mark 1:15). We are called to put our faith in Jesus, confess Him as Lord, and trust in Him for salvation (Romans 10:9–10). Whoever believes in Jesus will not perish but have eternal life (John 3:16). The Gospel is the invitation to leave our old life behind, trust in Jesus, receive forgiveness, and begin a new life with God.
